Well, the 2008 race season came to a close for me at Daytona International Speedway; about a year after it began at the fall of the last checkered flag of the 2007 season. I set out to accomplish some goals that some considered to be pretty high standards for a first year Expert or "White Plate." I wanted to be competitive enough to place in the top ten Overall positions in all of the Middleweight classes I raced in the Championship Cup Series (CCS) Mid-Atlantic region. I also wanted to place in the top ten Overall in the two American SportBike Racing Association (ASRA) National Pro Series classes I planned to race in. Boy, was I in for a shock. The competition I had this past year was spectacular. Some of the grids I was on had names that would be regulars during AMA National weekends. I was humbled by most of them and strived to learn as much as I could at every opportunity. I never once got to a single podium, but I felt like I have improved tremendously over what I accomplished last year. Even missing a several regional rounds to follow the ASRA Pro series wherever it went all over the country, I still managed to do pretty well. I even missed the first ASRA/CCS round at Daytona at the beginning of the year and also missed the ASRA round at Topeka.
20008 CCS Mid-Atlantic Regional Results:
- 11th Overall Middleweight Supersport (damn!)
- 10th Overall Middleweight Superbike
- 8th Overall Middleweight Grand Prix
2008 ASRA National Pro Series Results:
- 6th Overall Superbike
- 4th Overall Factory Pro Sportbike
I would like to thank all of my sponsors, supporters, family and friends for making this year one to remember and for everything they have given to me and my program. I sincerely believe I could not have accomplished as much as I have without the support from every one of you. All of my accomplishments this year are as much yours as they are mine. Considering where I’ve come from to where I am now, I think it is safe to say that we have all had a blast getting here, and it looks like we only have a little bit further to go. Everything this year worked well together. From the tires to the hard parts and the engine builders to the top-notch suspension guy (HEY JON!). All of my friends and I really enjoyed the awesome energy drinks and the cool t-shirts(while they lasted) and I think my entire program had a more professional look to it thanks to the leathers/boots/gloves/helmet help and the awesome paint and graphics that were done especially for me. I am glad we could help the people out at the track that we did through the year, and I hope I represented myself and the companies that helped me out so much as well as you all supported me. Again, thank you all so much.
See you out there in Spring 2009!
